In this picture it is clearly shown how the circulatory system of the fish is closed and uses it's gills as a exit and entrance for the body. With the fish not being near oxygen it has to cycle water in and out of the body in order to pumps its heart. Blood is where the transport of nutrients and oxygen takes place. It also collects carbon dioxide which is transported to the heart and then it gets to gills and exits the body of the fish.
